About us

One family, one idea

We are Gilles and Wout, family, entrepreneurs, and two people with a shared passion for sports.

The idea for GymBox arose one evening during a conversation about container construction. We were discussing how versatile containers actually are and how you can create something completely new with them. That led to one simple question: what if we turned it into a fitness room?

No one was really doing it the way we envisioned it. So we decided to just give it a try, without a grand plan, but with a lot of conviction.

The story of Gilles and Wout

The motivation came from our own experiences.

Gilles goes to the gym every day, but he hates it when the gym is overcrowded and the machines are occupied. The desire to have his own space where he can train undisturbed sparked the first seed.

Wout worked for the police for years and noticed how limited the infrastructure was to give officers the opportunity to exercise. Later, he saw the same thing in other sectors: companies with motivated employees, but without decent sports facilities. Yet, these very facilities make a huge difference in well-being and productivity.

As an advocate of a healthy, pleasant working environment, Wout strongly believes that employees who can exercise perform better and feel better, something that has also been scientifically proven.

This is how two worlds came together: the passion for sport and the urge to be entrepreneurial.

We decided to just give it a try. Without a grand plan, but with a lot of conviction. Because no one was really doing it the way we envisioned it.

Our first major step was the collaboration with KV Mechelen. This leap immediately made GymBox visible, not only in Belgium but also in the Netherlands. New projects quickly followed, from professional clubs to individuals who wanted their own GymBox.

Today we continue to build on that same idea every day: tailor-made fitness, for everyone who wants to exercise wherever and whenever they want.

What started as a family project grew into a concept that gets people moving, literally and figuratively.
